Palliative Care: It’s Not Just for the Dying Anymore!
Tuesday, August 13, 2019, 12:00 PM CDT
Category: Webinar

About 90 million Americans have a serious illness. Of those, 6 million could benefit from palliative care. These are not the same 1.6 million people utilizing hospice care. Do you know the difference?

Although the terms hospice and palliative care are often used interchangeably, they have very different meanings. Continuing to use these terms as though they are the same type of care causes a great deal of confusion for professionals, families, the general public, and the media. During this webinar, we’ll set the record straight in understanding the similarities and differences of hospice and palliative care. We’ll review what care is actually offered in each scenario, and how that can best be explained to the relevant audiences that are most affected.

Hosted by Minnesota Gerontological Society. Made possible in collaboration with the Minnesota chapter of Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association.
